Discovery of long - term superorbital periodicities in the pseudo - transient

Long-term monitoring of the recently discovered X-ray transient, IGR J17098-3628, by the All Sky Monitor on board the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer, has shown that it displays a long term (≈ 163d) quasi-periodic modulation in the data spanning its " active " state (i.e. approximately MJD 53450-54200). Furthermore, this light-curve is not typical of " classical " soft X-ray transients, in that J17...

IGR J 00234 + 6141 : a new INTEGRAL source identified as an Intermediate polar ?

Context. Following an extensive survey of the galactic plane by the INTEGRAL satellite, new hard X-ray sources are discovered with a significant fraction of Cataclysmic Variables (CVs) among them. Aims. We report here the identification of one of these hard X-ray sources, IGR J00234+6141, as an accreting magnetic white dwarf of inter-

Chandra Localizations and Spectra of Integral Sources in the Galactic Plane

We report on the results of observations of hard X-ray sources in the Galactic plane with the Chandra X-ray Observatory. The hard X-ray “IGR” sources were discovered by the INTEGRAL satellite, and the goals of the Chandra observations are to provide sub-arcsecond localizations to obtain optical and infrared counterparts and to provide constraints on their 0.3–10 keV spectra. We obtained relativ...

Spectral Analysis of X-ray Pulsars with the Integral Observatory

We studied spectra for 34 accretion-powered X-ray and one millisecond pulsars that were within the field of view of the INTEGRAL observatory over two years (December 2002–January 2005) of its in-orbit operation and that were detected by its instruments at a statistically significant level (> 8σ in the energy range 18–60 keV). There are seven recently discovered objects of this class among the p...

Unveiling the nature of INTEGRAL objects through optical spectroscopy . III . Observations of seven southern sources ⋆

In our continuing optical spectroscopic campaign to identify the longer-wavelength counterparts of newly-discovered hard X–ray sources detected by INTEGRAL, we observed the putative optical counterparts of seven southern sources at the South African Astronomical Observatory and at the European Southern Observatory. For two of these objects, optical photometry was also acquired. These observatio...
